Makes major point that investigation not about sex messages...
Investigation focused on wrongful termination of police officers and misuse of public funds by mayor.
She made long preamble to importance of witnesses.. and how the entire justice system depends on it.. she repeated what the oath is... and then dropped the hammer.
"Oaths mean something" - They MUST matter and that's why witnesses take them and its so important that there are crimes if you don't follow the oath.
"Even children understand that lying is wrong"
"Our case will show public dollars where used, the justice system was abused, and the public trust was trampled upon"

Many have wondered if Prosecutor Worthy will charge Mayor Kilpatrick but what will she charge him with. Will it be a felony such as perjury or official misconduct or will it be a misdemeanor like neglect of duty or obstruction of justice? Under the city charter a conviction on a misdemeanor would not require that Mayor Kilpatrick relinquish his position as Mayor, however a conviction on a felony would. Or malfeasance by a public official could lead the way to Mayor Kilpatrick either leaving or being removed from office.
According to what we hear on Monday morning at 11:00am Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy will charge Mayor Kilpatrick with 5 counts.
(1).Three charges,Perjury
(2).One charge, Obstruction of Justice
(3).One charge, Official misconduct/malfeasance
The Men's Basketball All-Big 10 Teams were announced this past week. Michigan State was represented by Drew Neitzel (a somewhat surprising 1st Team Media selection), and Raymar Morgan, who was tabbed for the 2nd team by both the coaches and media. One MSU cager recently named Big Ten Player of the Week was totally ignored by the selectors for his play this season, which in my view is yet another sad commentary on the power of perception over reality, with a pinch or two of personal bias tossed in for good measure...
Over the course of the last couple of days, the latest attempt to derail the Barrack Obama tidal wave has been launched by the political establishment. This establishment that I speak of does not consider itself Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, left or right. This establishment is instead the dirty underbelly of American politics. Former U.S. Senator and Vice Presidential Candidate Geraldine Ferraro is part of the establishment - and this week she did just what her establishment pimps told her to do.
I’m sure the rest of the league has noticed that the Pistons have put together a
nice winning streak but I’m not sure if people are noticing the manner in which
they have done it. The starters are playing fewer minutes than ever thus they
are more productive than ever thus the team is better than ever (sans 2004).
Fewer starter minutes=better team? Who would’ve thought?
Those of you who had
little-to-no hope of Pistons glory for 2007-08 (like me) will no doubt be
shocked by a totally unexpected development. The Pistons have the most important
bench in the NBA. In fact, it is so good that it not only extends leads but has
done the unthinkable: inspire the starters! Flip Saunders need to continue to
play the bench in the same capacity throughout the playoffs to have a shot at
the NBA Title. My concern is that Saunders might not be able to bring himself to
do such a thing.
Ever since Illinois Senator Barack Obama began to pick up steam in this year's manufactured, over-hyped, mass-marketed, political homecoming parade (otherwise known as the presidential primary), folks from all over the place have begun to ask questions about his qualifications to hold our nation's highest office.
But in hearing these questions, I have a few questions of my own.
I don't "get" what has everyone so high on Obama. I see a glitzy box, a great ad
campaign, some wonderful endorsements.. and little substance.
I have big problems with a guy who never was anything other then a
state legislator till 4 years ago (and only had 7 years there) and
after just 3 years in the US Senate is now the guy the country thinks
can lead it.
