| The Lions : Is it the Media's Fault ? |

 Now.. right off the back, I realize that everything that has happen to
the Lions isn't the media's fault.. I'm not saying that.But in roughly 10 months, the Free Press along with the Detroit News drove Kwame Kilpatrick out of office... granted... he had committed felony crimes. But aren't William Clay Ford & Matt Millen felons against the fans of Lions ? Every year.. it seems like the newspapers and the radio stations buy into the Lions kool-aid and help spread the propaganda. Mike O'Hara saying the Lions will win 10 games.. Mike Valenti saying the Lions should win 8 games.. Andy Beniot at WXYZ saying 10 wins.. Wayne Fontes Experience they will win 9 games.. Brian VanOchten predicted 7 wins.. Greg O'Connor predicted 11 wins.. Jamie Samuelsen predicted 6 wins.. Bob Wojnowski predicted the playoffs.. Caputo predicted the playoffs.. WHY ? I'm not a Lions hater.. but I said plainly and clearly.. 3 wins (One of those was Atlanta) and for the most part I was laughed at. WHY does the media drink the preseason kool aid.. and then help sell it to the fans ? WHY ? When the press in Detroit goes into all out assault mode.. things change. WDFN went into all out assault mode against the Tigers in 2002/2003 and it brought about change.. was this change just about a single Radio Station.. no.. it also had to do with 8000 people sitting in a 40,000 seat stadium. It was non-stop Tigers jokes. It was relentless, unforgiving assault against the team, it's management, and it's ownership. WHY ? Why do the Lions get a pass.. year after year after year after year ? Are the media such lemmings.. so deep into the pockets of the Detroit Lions that they simply can't do it ? Are the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Channels 2, 4, 7, 62 so dependent on Lions supported advertising and exposure that they won't apply the full court press ? WHY ? Why does The Ticket and The Fan discuss the Lions each and every week, after each and every embarrassing loss ? Why do they talk about what could be done.. what should be done. Why not just play a laugh track. I want to hear caller after caller on the line.. get about 8 words about about the Lions.. and then hear Big G yell "Come On", followed by Valenti in full ROTFLAO hysteria, followed by a "click" as the caller gets hung up on.  I don't want to hear about fan marches, ticket holder revolts, what the
average joe can do. Big business doesn't give a crap about the Average
Joe.They care about public persona though. They care about how they are perceived by their peers. So this end.. I'm challenging the Detroit Media.. Stand up and end this nonsense. Stop coddling the Detroit Lions, William Clay Ford and Matt Millen. Call for Ford at every press conference.. don't ask questions of Marinelli, he is just a foot soldier in this war. Embarrass Ford.. don't sit in the press box.. don't attend the post game press conference. Don't write anything about the Lions except to mock them. Make fun of them. Point out how they are the worst, WORST, franchise in NFL history.. and in the midst of the worst decade in the history of Pro Sports. EVER ! No team has ever been worse.. EVER !! Demand Millen's head every day.. and then demand Ford's. The headline should read daily.. 31-83 Does Ford Fire Millen Today ? And then the same story should repeat.. worst franchise in NFL History.. worst GM in NFL History.. worst owner in NFL history.. worst drafts in NFL history.. worst, worst, worst. Every Kwame story in the Freep for the past year went.. Kwame walked across the street this morning to get a cup of coffee.. Kwame has been charged with X (go into all the charges) because of text messages (repeat top 10 salacious texts) and cost the City of Detroit $8.4M in the whistle blower lawsuit. It never let up.. not for 10 months. For the love of God.. somebody has to take a stand. Freep, DetNews, 97.1 The Ticket, WDFN, Oakland Press, MLive, TV 2 - 4 - 7 - 62.. do you got the balls ?? Or are you going to be lemmings forever ?? |
