Will someone please tell Kwame Kilpatrick he didn’t take an oath of orafice?
He swore he’d do his best to represent the City of Detroit _ a full-time job for any mayor, even when his pants and lips are zipped.
But Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty did what they did and said what they said with disdain for the citizens who paid their salaries.
Now, Kilpatrick says he’ll fight till he he’s vindicated, whatever the cost.
Time to get out our calculators. And you’d better be sure they have fresh batteries.
For a city with more problems than any math class, the numbers are staggering. But then, so is the mayor, so that may be appropriate.
As someone who grew up in Redford Township, a drive and a wedge from the city improper, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to defend Detroit - even when it has been compared to Iraq.
But I don’t live there now. I don’t have to drive through miles of foreclosures and forsaken neighborhoods each day. And I don’t have to listen to the jokes.
Anyone is innocent till proven guilty, though Kilpatrick’s innocence appears to have been lost faster than a Lions game.
What matters now is saving a city, not saving an ass. Reread your oath, Missed-her Mayor, and do the right thing.
Step aside. Now. Before more business opportunities evaporate as fast as your dignity did.
If not, you’ll soon become known as Kwame Kevorkian, the mayor who assisted the suicide of a city.
